PELICAN POINTE LADIES 18 HOLE LEAGUE

The eighteen hole Ladies Golf Association at Pelican Pointe Golf and Country Club sponsors League events on Tuesday mornings.
In addition, there are some special events which include some Thursdays ie: Club Championship, President's Cup, etc.
The PPLGA also sends members to events to compete with area clubs.
The League also conducts several special events during the year including Member-Member, Member-Guest, and Invitationals.

President's Forum
As the returning President of the LGA I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our members. Once again it was a busy season of activity for the Pelican Pointe Ladies and this year looks to be just as exciting.
We continue to add new activities to our schedule and eliminate those that "didn't work". Our new season begins with the MGA-LGA Challenge, an event started last year by Anne Dawson and Nancy Eibling. The MGA will be anxious to avenge their loss last year, so we are going to have to be sharp to retain that wonderful trophy.
The summer will be a quiet time although we have two events planned, the Summer Ringer Tournament and the TPC Tournament. These will be fit in around the annual Memorial Day, 4th. of July and Labor Day couples events run by the club. In September we will shift into our busy season and this year we have moved the popular Fall Ringer Tournament to November so that more of our members will be able to participate. We will have fun days such as "Super Tuesday" before the Super Bown and "March Madness" in conjunction with the NCAA Basketball tournament. We have also included in the schedule the Tuesday games such as "Three Queens and one King" and a couples match-play event which we had added last year. Our Ringer Tournaments will be both gross and net with equal prizes. We have also changed the President's Cup to be strictly a low net tournament and the LGA Championship will only award prizes on gross scores. We have also pushed up the dates for the LGA Tournament so that it does not conflict with spring breakers and family visits. We hope that these changes will meet with your approval.
We have also gone back to having our LGA Championship in the usual format of a Tuesday, Thursday and Tuesday over a two week span. Although many enjoyed the Championship held with the Niners and the MGA it did present a different set of problems. I hope that now that we are returning to having our own celebration that more members will play and attend the dinner to honor our winners.
Our goals this year are to continue to expand, increase participation, and to try and plan our events so that they will be enjoyable for all of our members regardless of handicap.
On a personal note, I wish to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve another year as your president. I greatly appreciate your vote of confidence and I look forward to working with our new Board.

AROUND THE POINTE: SUMMER '09
For those of you not here during the summer, there will be a little update of the varous happenings periodically. We finally got some rain during the week of May 17th. As a result the course has greened up, the ponds are looking better and the rough is starting to get rough!! The rain has since subsided except for afew times since the week-long downpours. They are doing alot of work around the course much of which is not obvious but is necessary to maintain the course.
Many of the members are taking advantage of the opportunity to play at other clubs. Bill is planning trips to some of the courses not usually available to our membership as well.
The Inter-City and Quota Leagues are in full swing however we are having problems fielding a full team for the Quota League. Perhaps it is time to drop down to just one League during the summer.
The Pro Shop sponsored the annual Memorial Day Tournament and there was a good turnout. The Employee Appreciation Day will be held on June 17th. which is always a fun event for both the members and the employees.
