Biography
I was born on February 24, 1977 to the proud parents of John and Portia Simpson, joining my brother John A. Simpson. Growing up in University City, I enjoyed collecting baseball cards, hanging out and playing games with friends, spending time with family, attending church to hear Bishop James A. Johnson preach, trips to the Planetarium, Science Center, National Museum of Transportation, Northwest Plaza, The Galleria, St. Louis Center, the local park near my house and of course Busch Stadium to see Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee, Tom Herr and the Cardinals! I graduated from Hazelwood in 1995, from there I attended and graduated from Florissant Valley in 2000, with my Associates in Broadcast Communications. While attending Flo. Valley, I had the honor of working at 89.5 KCFV, Flo.’s radio station, under the tutelage of John Balas. From Flo. Valley, I went on to the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL), got some much needed seasoning and mentoring, and most importantly my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications with a Minor in Psychology. It was while I was at UMSL, that I got another introduction into the radio industry. I was able to do an internship at KTRS, under Jim Holder. That internship was an invaluable experience, as I saw first-hand of what it takes to thrive and have longevity in the radio industry. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, working out, studying martial arts, collecting and building my model railroad collection, spending time with family and friends, movies, Cards, Blues and the occasional Rams game. My favorite athletes are, Ozzie Smith. Albert Pujols, Issac Bruce, Jerry Rice, Steven Jackson, James Laurinitis, Orlando Pace, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, ‘Marvelous’ Marvin Hagler, Floyd Mayweather, Hollie Dunaway, Christy Martin (she’s really Cute!), Mark Grace, Paul Molitor, just to name a few. Finally, I am very thankful to GOD, as he has blessed me through good times and bad, and has allowed me to gain valuable experience, much needed knowledge and wisdom, hold significant positions in this business and has brought me to the point of having my own show and taking my career to the next level! I am also very grateful to GOD to be a cancer survivor and surviving an extremely trying time in my life back in 1993. Finally, I have too many heroes and people to thank (too many to mention here) that have helped me along the way.
