| Life's reflection through my eyes. |
(Updated June 6, 2009)
Greetings family and friends. Today is another day filled with exhuberance and starcast wishes of dreams that seem out of reach.
When we are in awe of all that is going on around us or when troubles become too difficult to carry, we must rely on our tried and true method of release....POETRY.
Below are a few treasured pieces of my soul. I hope you enjoy.
I AM EVERY WOMAN
I am the woman birthed beneath the tribal rain
Skin glistening to the christening of her new name
As Djembes pronounce her long awaited arrival
I am the woman with an issue of blood
Shunned by the masses as she casts her woes at his feet
Wanting nothing more than to be whole again… complete
I am the new mother who after months of incubation
Opens her womb to provide a gateway into this life
The porthole through which future leaders arise to destiny’s calling
I am that homeless woman with no food to eat
Skin clinging helplessly to her boney neglected frame
As she prays for sweet mercy from the pain
I am the woman who proudly stands before a crowd
Degree in hand, heart beating outloud
As she graciously accepts her just due
I am the streetwise sista with dreams in her eyes
Knowing too often the malice creeping in mankind
Trusting no one, as she clings to the solemn promise of survival
I am that woman who is broken and bruised
Never recognizing mirror reflections scene
Beneath bloodied lips and bloodshot eyes
Many nights have cried in the midst of her darkness
I am that single mother who has reached that distant star
Despite his neglect and selfishness in his heart
She made it, through sweat and tears
Sleepless nights and fears replaced by faith’s unending song
She made it
I am that woman unaware making love to HIV
Thinking that the gold band placed upon her hand
Symbolized his fidelity
Now 3 years down the line
Blood eternally poisoned by his fake alibis
Cradles a life bosomed in lessons, heartache and lies
I am that poor woman with $.50 to her name
Being offered large amounts of dough to play sexual games
But she declines to compromise her soul’s worth
She knows that matter how bad it may seem
Prayer and walks of faith give birth to finer things
She will overcome, as God is her witness, she will overcome
You see I am every woman
Born to bare the humungous weight of the world upon my shoulders
Yet delicate enough to calm the raging seas
In whatever capacity I am born and bred
I will nourish the bounty of riches within my spirit
And even when heartache hold me through the night
Though true joy may be just within site
Whether I’m barely living or living to die
Broken and bruise or standing tall with great pride
Survival will never falter in me
For I am every woman
And every woman is in me

PANDORA'S BOX
I gaze into your soul
And it is there I see
Nearly 30 years of love staring back at me
Devotions that could compete with the bounty of the Red Sea
Rising to protect and nurture that which born to be free
Did you hear me?
I said it was born to be free
Truth held hostage
By idle contemplations of we
A love hastened to be
Promenading to the rhythm of natures calling
Like a distant flame painting hieroglyphic images
Upon gray matter that contorts and twists
To receive the gift of you dancing within brainwaves
A flame that refuses to bow down to darkness
To hide in the shadows
It simply refuses to die
Like the imaginary crest upon my breast
That symbolizes my lineage
Years before I was born
Our DNA was infused to gestate
The tears of yearning in hearts and heads
That have inhaled each other’s divinity
Making it physically impossible to let go
A gold band traditionally worn to unite
Bars me from the kingdom of your existence
Bars me from you
Yet when I listen to the sovereign cries of your eyes
The perpetual longing
That thrives and drives
Can’t you feel it… it thrives and drive straight to my core
And I keep waiting for that moment of silence
When it all dwindles to a subtle whisper,
But that moment never comes
It never comes!
It seems our forbidden chapter is as reliable as the sun
That caresses my consciousness each morning as I wake
And the moon whose presence embraces me lovingly til daybreak
My heart will always beat for you
In perfect vision with destiny
Though our love may never materialize in this life
Spiritually, our souls are intertwined
And our minds, basted intellectually
In seeds void of the impurities of this world
Will continue to make wishes that mingle with the auroras in heaven
Upon wings of a innocent kiss
Pondering intimate remembrances with a smile
Then placing them in Pandora’s Box for safe keeping

NOT YET TO TOUCH THIS GODDESS
collab. with Sun of Man of Joseph's Vision
She Called My name in a dialect unknown…
Shook the foundation of my soul and knocked me off my throne…
Vibrations leaving me weak in my knees…
If my prayers were answered then god I am pleased…
Her kisses amazing…
Her touch is dazing…
And that was the Spiritual Feel…
Not yet to touch this Goddess…
Not yet to touch this Goddess…
Not yet to dance with the constellation…
Of her imagination as I serenade with the moon…
Trembling, I drape the sheath of his radiant soul
Around my shoulders for warmth
For protection
Raging Storms melt away to silence
As spiritual truths learn how to fly
Instinctively I close my eyes and breath him
Inhaling his divine metaphoric sentimentalities
As exhales render lifelong inhibitions free
Free to roam in love’s perceived playground… in me
Not yet to touch my king
Not yet to touch my king
Not yet to touch the laugh lines artistically designed in my honor
As heart-filled notions play charade with what could be
Tasting the temptation…
Cold chills causing hallucinations…
Sweating out the lust…
As I am High off The angel Dust As She Sprinkles Me With A Mist of Her Loving…
Sinking into the Abyss As She Wraps Me With Her Saturation…
As She Floods Like a Current from Her Natural Perception…
I am on the Shore of her Caribbean Sea…
As I welcome his pre-destined love to be
Speechless to the whistling of the wind chimes
Calling his name
Calling my name
Names soon to be infused into the same
As distant echoes harbor our existence
Within huge waves of emotions cleansing… renewing
Destiny pursuing its rightful place in this consecrated season
Head over heals I dive into her soul…
Breath stroking her mental oasis…
Eyes Closed Seeing Her Spiritual Faces…
As My Tongue is Baptized…
From Her Eyes I am Drawn in at A Distance…
As My Heart beats With Consistence…
From his eyes I am drawn in at a distance
As my heart yearns to feel his essence
See She Has me Uttering Her Name but She Hears me Not…
Because She is Deaf to The world As I am Blinded by the Beauty…
Of Every Curve and Angle of this Angel…
As We Spiritually Touch and My Mind Body and Soul is Trapped With in Her Loves Triangle…
Yet With Her Body I am yet To Tangle…
Not Yet To Touch This Goddess…
Not Yet To Touch This Goddess…
Not Yet To Dance In Her Aquatic Graceland…
Not yet to touch my king
Not yet to touch my king
Not yet to delve in his mystic galaxies…
(Together) But Distantly Make Love To Him/Her In Ways Our Naked Eyes Would Never See…
