"Looking Forward: Living Fully After Transplant"
is a new research study for bone marrow and stem cell transplant (BMT/SCT) survivors funded by the National Institutes of Health.

Despite the fact that more people are treated today with BMT/SCT than ever before, very little is known about the experiences of people who survive these treatments. And while proven to save lives, we understand these treatments can be a difficult emotional experience. Some people do well after transplant, while others experience difficulty adjusting to life after completing their treatment. Others may experience a wide range of emotions, causing the time after transplant to feel like an emotional “roller coaster.”

What Is The Looking Forward Study?

The “Looking Forward” study is one of the first clinical research studies aimed at understanding the experiences of BMT/SCT survivors. Our research team is trying to learn about people who cope well after transplant and those who may have difficulty getting back on track. If you are doing well after your transplant, we want to understand what has helped you. If you are having difficulty coping after your transplant, we want to understand what has caused you those difficulties, while we try to help you find resolution. In addition to understanding the experiences of BMT/SCT survivors, the study will also examine specialized methods of counseling and writing for BMT/SCT survivors who may need it.
